Students who need to leave campus during the day must bring a note from their parent/guardian to the office before 7:45 AM.
If you would like to call to request an early release, please call the main office at #687-9500 at least one (1) hour prior to pick up time. This will allow us sufficient time to make the proper arrangements.
Federal laws require the Hawaii Department of Education (DOE) to annually notify parents, guardians, and eligible students (18 years or older) about privacy rights under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment (PPRA). Under FERPA, the DOE must also designate what student information it has determined as directory information and how a request can be made to withhold such information (i.e., opt out) from being disclosed, unless FERPA guidelines allow disclosure without consent. Additionally, in accordance with the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA), as amended by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB), the DOE is required to provide designated military recruitment personnel (in Hawaii, the military's Inter-Service Recruitment Council, or IRC) the name, address, and telephone number (including unlisted numbers) of secondary school students (grades 7-12).

Welcome to the start of another fantastic year at
Ewa Makai Middle School! It will be a year full of excitement and change for all of us! As you know, the state of Hawaii and most of the schools in the United States agreed to administering a very rigorous Common Core Assessment called SBAC (Smarter Balance Assessment Consortium). This common assessment was created to raise the bar for student learning and to prepare each student for being College and Career Ready.
I would like to welcome our newest members to our Ewa Makai Ohana, our new seventh grade class! You are now Tigers and we expect a lot of you to upload our proud culture here of "Empower, Explore, Excel Together." We are all here to make your years here at Ewa Makai Middle very memorable and productive for your future!
Eighth graders, please make the best of your final year as you will be the positive role models and set the tone for the best school ever!
